Robin Atkin Downes



Robin Atkin Downes has been working as a professional actor for over 18 years. Born and raised in the U.K., he encountered his love for acting while performing in his first play in boarding school at the age of six.

His training continued in the United States with a Masters of Fine Arts degree from Temple University in Philadelphia. He subsequently taught acting there for 3 years. He taught advanced acting at Freedom Theatre, Pennsylvania’s oldest nationally recognized African-American Theatre. Robin has taught workshops in acting throughout the USA and Europe. Currently he resides in Los Angeles.


A member of Screen Actors Guild, Actors Equity Association and American Federation of Radio and Television Artists, He is currently working on the features “High Voltage.” And “Memorial,” due to come out next summer. Robin had starred in many popular shows. His fans recognize him from Babylon 5, where he was a regular recurring character “Byron”. His latest guest star appearances were on the HBO hit series, ”Arliss” and “Rubbing Charlie,” On CBS. Robin has guested on “Charmed”, “Nash Bridges”, “ Titians”, “Beverly Hills 90210”, “ Angel” and “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”, to name a few. He was Morann in the TNT original movie “ In The Beginning”. His theatre credits in London include starring as Dracula, Petruchio in “Taming of the Shrew”, Benedick in” Much Ado About Nothing”, Mowbry in “Richard the II”, Joey in “The Homecoming”, and Nick in “What the Butler Saw”. In Prague he starred as Skin lad in “Ulice Brink”. Back east, favorite roles include Marquise de Brisalle in “Cyrano”, John Wilkes Booth in “Assassins”, Shelly in “Bloody Poetry,and Lt. Ralph Clark in “Our Country’s Good”. Robin hit the regional theatres playing such roles as Richard III, Theseus in “Midsummer’s Night Dream”, Ned Weeks in “The Normal Heart, and Cerimon in “Pericles”. Last October, Robin starred as Dracula here in Los Angeles.

Mr. Downes has been in many national commercial spots, including Christine Aguilerra’s Coke series, and works constantly as a voice over artist…Some of his latest voice over credits include “Everquest Seeds of Hate,” “Alter Echo,” and “Halo.” “Bounty Hunter,” “The Knights of the old Republic,” “Rogue III,” and “Gladius,” for Lucas Arts… The Hobbit for Interplay. Lionheart and Adama in the upcoming “Battlestar Gallactica.” He also played the role of Prince Stephan in the Barbie Rapunzel movie… In addition he performs Promos for Direct TV and countless radio and Television spots including Bandai, Sprint and CBS.

An accomplished musician, Robin composes, plays and sings, and paints in his spare time!
