Well, as some of you already know, we will not see
Robin at Shore Leave this year. I have been speaking with the
committee for 3 days, and while they were at thier budget,
we were willing to extend the budget to include Robin,
unfortunately, there was no way to fit him into the schedual.
For those of you who haven't been to Shore Leave, they have
huge ballrooms that we have the guest speak in..and the schadual was
filled up from 10am until 2am sat, and 10am to 6pm sun. The only
was to fit Robin in would be to cancel another
guest, and as much as we all want to see Robin, I'm sure you realize
that they just could not do that. They were willing, they wanted him..
but we were just a little too late with our request. I knew it would not
be a money issue, but until we started working the schedual we weren't sure
whether we could do it. They are quite serious about having Robin for next year
though.
They also asked my to forward appologies for delays in e-mail replies..
they are on A..O..H*ll, after all..;-D
On a more serious note..when I suggested everyone
e-mail conventions with request for Robin (and Shore Leave is not the only one)
I did not think it neccessary to remind everyone that they are
representing THIS club with each letter, and they
should make a polite, if enthused request, observing the rules
of common courtesy. It seems I was in error in this.
When you E-mail these cons, remember, some of the people here
are on these committees, Shore Leave and Dragon Con only
being 2 of them that I know members come here, or to the
station. There is nothing more embarrassing, and more harmful to the
star you propose to like, than to send nasty threatening E-mails!
Please..show a little responsibility and maturity.
