We follow a path through life. In the beginning, we accept ideas from
others to guide us. Time passes until, one day, we awaken. For the
first time, our dreams are clear. We are reborn.
Abandoning the old life, we set off in pursuit of our vision, hoping to
make up for wasted years with passionate devotion to the road ahead.
The future begins to unfold. True happiness is tasted briefly--just
enough to confirm the vision's truth.
But we are not sole creators in the universe. Others design their own
paths. At times, they betray our faith. When we have trusted them
with our dreams, their betrayal can be our end.
At some forks in life's pathway, no travels are possible without loss of
self, the death of dreams, and destruction of that which has been
achieved through terrible cost.
When all choices are ill, selecting none of them may be the choice of
wisdom. Perhaps this is the choice of surrender, for with us the
dreams may die as well. But that is for others to decide--our part of
the story has ended, though the great tale goes on.
