I did catch the series opener, and I think you have a good idea. As always, Amanda is charming and self-serving, but in the best of ways!

I have one thought, though, on his role as a former student/lover -- I think it might be even better if he was a friendly rival. They have been constantly competing for the same treasures for centuries! But they are attracted to each other, so every time they meet, the sparks fly!

Just my little thought.
