: You mistake my meaning slightly. As a long time user of Usenet I am well aware of the importance of allowing off-topic conversation to keep a group interesting and friendly. However I am also aware of the problems that can be caused by unecessary messages. For instance if it's the best way to do it then Jennie posting to the group to say she's in the chat room is okay, it's just one message after all. But when almost all the new messages are such and ther are so many I can only think it will put people off rather than make them want to read the group. Especially when we don't know when we'll get the archiving facility or if we ever will.

Ok, ok! We *do* understand your point, Amethyst, and many of us agree with some of your points...Sheer Panic Group and Doc Rock, who work on this site and are responsible, understand the need for archiving...they are just horrendously busy at the moment.

However, you need to understand that we run this site as fun and as friendly as possible...very much like a loving family group. We would *LOVE* to have the British Fans come over and start chatting with us about the Byron character, the Teeps situation, and all! Since they are not here in bundles, we carry on our family conversations.

Now, just so everyone is *aware*, I have emailed Robin regarding the points that Amethyst has brought up...he is on his way out of town so I did not get a straight answer out of him.

And, I would think that if Robin *did not* like the way we were posting on HIS site that he would very quickly and gently ask us not to do it.

Since this is Robins' site.....
