Deafness and Hard of Hearing are simply a matter of
a minimization of sounds or lack of sound...crucial
for normal communication or education or such. It
doesn't mean that we cannot communicate or learn..
(TTY, email, sign language are great tools!!)...
and as was pointed out in the movie "Immortal
Beloved" Beetoven did not let it defeat his great
talent...but it stiffled his life all the same.
And it doesn't mean that we can't be downsright
silly....(you wouldn't ever believe what *I* hear
at times...I just know they couldn't have said that!)
And singing...you would *never* want to hear me
sing!! For years I sang with my church choirs...
didn't realize until recently that I was singing
offkey the whole time...irksome to hearing folks!
....as well as making up my own words along the way
...ya know the song, "My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean"?
Well, I was a very spiritual child...I sang,
"My Body Lies Over the Ocean, My Body Lies over the Sea,
My Body lies over the Ocean, so bring back my body
to me"...made perfect sense to me! I knew that
the corporal body and spiritual body were different
but they worked together.
It's not until we miss something really important,
like a loved one trying to whisper "I love you" in
our ears or trying to hear the too soft voice of
a child...or IMPORTANT THINGS BEING SAID BY BYRON/

that we ping with disappointment inside.
Why do you think that I love the idea of Telepathy
so much??? I may not be able to *hear* everything
that you say...but I would love to *know* everything
that you are saying.
